Monique Ledesma

For nearly two decades, Monique has been passionately sharing yoga, as a set of tools for transformation and healing. She teaches with genuine warmth and enjoys the challenge of meeting every student where they are at, supporting each individual to connect with their own inner teacher. 
Initially, she explored and taught several different styles. The intense physicality was addictive, and the philosophy was inspiring. Unfortunately the link between the two was not fully convincing. As her efforts increased, she was also confused and demoralised that her physical and mental issues were actually getting worse.

Monique continued to explore until she discovered Shadow Yoga in 2008. She found the missing link in this unique and complete teaching of authentic hatha yoga. Expertly adapted to our modern lifestyle, it continues to evolve, in response to life. Since then, she has been studying with Karen Watson, who she apprenticed for three years, before qualifying to teach in 2014. In 2010, she began attending regular courses with Sundernath (Shandor Remete) and Emma Balnaves, the co-founders of Shadow Yoga. 

Monique's teaching is informed by what she learns from life's challenges, teaching others, her daily practices, the hatha yoga texts, and ongoing studies with all of her teachers.
